Newcastle 500 street circuit unveiled

The V8 Supercars Championship organisation has unveiled the Newcastle 500 street circuit, measuring 2.6 kilometers, set for debut on November 24-26th next year.

“This is a world-class circuit that will make for exciting racing for the people of Newcastle,” said James Warburton, Chief Executive of the championship.

“We can’t wait to come to Newcastle and deliver great entertainment on and off the track and showcase the city to the rest of Australia and the world.”

The organisers are expecting to attract approximately 81,000 visitors over the next five years and 57 million AUD in visitor expenditure.

“It’s a great opportunity for Newcastle, the Hunter and Supercars fans from across Australia to enjoy the wide array of activities on offer in the region,” said NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres.

The Newcastle 500 will host the season finale of the championship next year.
