Kristoffersson Motorsport return to the STCC with Volkswagen
Kristoffersson Motorsport (KMS) is back in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship for the first time since 2012 and will run two Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR race cars with Volkswagen Sweden backing.
”With this setup we have a really competitive team and will be back to fight for the top positions in the championship,” said team owner and former STCC driver Tommy Kristoffersson.
Drivers will be Fredrik Blomstedt and 2012 champion Johan Kristoffersson, with the latter only doing four of the seven races due to a clashing World Rallycross Championship programme.
Blomstedt comes from a single seater background, racing in Formula Renault Asia and UK from 2007 to 2009 and most recently finishing as runner-up in the 2016 Renault Sport Trophy championship.
Kristoffersson Motorsport will also handle the sales of Volkswagen TCR cars and spare parts for the STCC.
”We are of course honoured by the trust to under Volkswagen Motorsport handle Volkswagen’s racing activities in the Scandinavian championship,” said Tommy Kristoffersson.
The entry of KMS ups the so far number of confirmed cars to the 2017 STCC season to 12.
