Stefano Comini tops wet shakedown in Georgia
Stefano Comini was fastest of all in the ten-minute shakedown session at the Rustavi circuit in Georgia, putting his Comtoyou Racing Audi RS 3 at the top of the time sheets ahead of WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli.
The Swiss driver set his best lap in the final moments, dropping Morbidelli to second, while Team WRT’s Jean-Karl Vernay was third fastest in the Volkswagen.
The two DG Sport Compétition Opels followed, with Mat’o Homola leading team-mate Pierre-Yves Corthals, was Dusan Borkovic the fastest of the three GE-Force Alfa Romeos in sixth, just over 1.1 seconds off the pace.
Hugo Valente was the best-placed of the SEATs in seventh, ahead of Race 1 pole-sitter Davit Kajaia’s Alfa, with the two SEATs of James Nash and Ferenc Ficza completing the top ten.
The two M1RA Hondas of Roberto Colciago and Attila Tassi were just outside the top ten, in 12th and 13th respectively.
15 cars took part in the shakedown, with Icarus Motorsports’ Duncan Ende missing the session.
The first race gets underway at 13:35 GET (11:35 CET).
