Benjamin Lessennes takes brilliant second place on TCR debut
Boutsen Ginion Racing driver Benjamin Lessennes was delighted after finishing in second position on his TCR International Series debut at Spa-Francorchamps, finishing behind double-champion Stefano Comini in the Honda Civic TCR.
Lessennes made a good start and was up to second from third on the grid into La Source, though he’d fall behind Comini’s Audi at Les Combes, he’s later pass Attila Tassi’s M1RA Honda to reclaim second to round off a strong debut.
“We didn’t expect this at the beginning of the weekend, but I was fastest in the first practice so we knew already that we were quick,” said Lessennes to TouringCarTimes.
“I knew Stefano was going to be really quick at the beginning of the race, as we know the Audi can get heat quite quickly into its rear tyres – so we knew it’d be difficult. After the second lap, I tried to push and managed to overtake Attila (Tassi), then I worked to make a gap.”
