Jonathan Giacon takes both pole positions for Adria curtain raiser

Tecnodom’s Jonathan Giacon took pole position in today’s qualifying sessions at Adria. The Opel driver was supposed to share his Astra TCR with his brother Kevin, who had to renounce due to a fever. Eric Scalvini will share the front row with him in his MM Motorsport Honda Civic TCR. Plamen Kralev and Nicola Baldan will start from third in the first and second race respectively.

In Q1, which determines the Race 1 grid, the Bulgarian Audi driver managed to pip Pit Lane Competizioni’s Nicola Baldan, going faster than his rival by less than one tenth. In the second qualifying the SEAT driver was much faster, improving his performance by almost one second and seriosuly challenging Scalvini’s second place.

Honda’s Davide Nardilli will start the first race from fifth, whereas his co-driver Samuele Piccin went no further than sixth. Andrea Argenti will start sixth in the first race and fifth in the second in his SEAT.

Max Mugelli was unexpectedly slow after a good performance on Friday, ending up ninth in the first qualifying and eighth in the second. The Audi driver will need to do a lot of work if he is to finish in higher positions in the races, also given the twisty nature of the Adria circuit.

The first TCR Italy race, whose starting grid is listed below, is scheduled for 18:10 and will last 25 minutes + 1 lap.
