Hyundai complete Valencia test with the i30 TCR

Hyundai Motorsport have continued development of the new i30 TCR, after completing three days of testing at the Valencia circuit.

The German-based team took to the Spanish track from Tuesday to Thursday this week for further testing; the third test for the new TCR competitor after Misano and Motorland Aragon.

Official test driver Gabriele Tarquini was at the wheel, with the programme focussing on brake and damper development.

Hyundai plan to start delivering the new car to customers in early December, but there is a possibility of the new i30 TCR being entered in the final races of the current season.

Andrea Adamo, Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing department manager, is satisfied with the progress made so far.

“Already we have proved that we have a very strong base car,” said Adamo. “However, this early in a project there are always areas where you can still increase performance and, more importantly for customer project, improve drivability. After establishing the foundations for the set-up at our previous tests we are now building on to them.”

“At Valencia we focused on the damper and brake settings, and we finished this week with very good information in these areas. Future tests will concentrate on other areas, such as developing the aerodynamic package and maximising the power from the engine.”
