TCR set for introduction in the 2018 IMSA Continental Tire Challenge

The organisers of the IMSA Continental Tire Challenge and WSC Ltd, the rights holder of TCR, are planning to introduce a TCR class for 2018.

“We began our due diligence process on the potential introduction of the TCR platform more than a year ago, and formally announced that we were exploring the concept last year,” said IMSA CEO Ed Bennett.

“We engaged our automotive partners and teams throughout the discovery process and determined that TCR would be an attractive addition to the Continental Tire Challenge.”

The TCR class will fit in between the current GS and ST classes regarding speed in the IMSA championship and the first race including TCR class cars is planned for the Rolex 24 Hours weekend at Daytona International Speedway in 2018.
