Attila Tassi’s car declared unraceable after Salzburgring test smash

The M1RA Honda Civic TCR of Attila Tassi is unable to be repaired before this weekend’s races at the Salzburgring after a high-speed crash at Turn 9.

The incident took place 40 minutes into the second test of the day, with the car sustaining significant front and rear-end damage, ruling it out of the rest of the meeting.

The 17-year-old driver has been checked in the medical centre and is OK, but the team is yet to ascertain the cause of the crash.

The team is now faced with finding a way for Tassi to race this weekend, with the Hungarian fourth in the championship standings.

“The bad thing was the angle of the impact,” said M1RA team principal Norbert Michelisz to TouringCarTimes. “The car is wrecked. We have to find a solution to get him into the race,” he added. “He’s OK and we’d like to race tomorrow, so we need to find a solution.”
