Thomas Jäger ecstatic with fourth on his TCR debut

Austrian driver Thomas Jäger qualified in fourth position for his TCR International Series debut with Kissling Motorsport, with local knowledge not a factor in his pace, as the 23-year-old explains he’s never driven at the Salzburgring before.

“Friday it was my first time here,” said Jäger to TouringCarTimes.

“It’s my first time in a front-wheel driven car, first time at the Salzburgring and first time in the world’s hardest touring car series, I think fourth is more than I could have expected,” added Jäger.

Jäger is one of three Opel Astra TCRs entered in the race, with Mat’o Homola securing pole position in the #70 DG Sport Compétition-run car, and with TCR newcomer Grégoire Demoustier 18th.

“In the race I hope to make a good start, as it’s four or five years back since I last did a standing start in Formula 3, and it’s also my first sprint race since Blancpain GT at Zolder, so I hope to have a good race tomorrow.”
