Back of the grid for Rob Huff after engine change

Rob Huff has relinquished his sixth position on the grid for Race 1 at the Salzburgring, after Team WRT have opted for a second engine change in as many race weekends on the #3 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

Huff has been experiencing power issues throughout the weekend, reportedly losing almost half a second down the backstraight at the Salzburgring circuit.

The team requested permission to replace a camshaft on Saturday, but the issue persisted throughout qualifying.

WRT requested the change as a force majeure change due to a manufacturer defect, but were refused, with Huff taking the grid penalty that comes with it for Race 1.

The team had already changed the engine on the car at the last race meeting at Monza, while Jaap van Lagen was driving the car.

Huff’s starting position of fourth for Race 2 is unaffected.
