WestCoast Racing state ”alarm bells should ring” on TCR Balance of Performance

WestCoast Racing has stated that alarm bells should ring regarding the Balance of Performance (BoP) after the TCR International Races at Salzburgring, following rival driver Roberto Colciago’s victory on full ballast in his Honda.

“Maybe there is some work to do adjusting the Balance of Performance,” said team-principal James Nixon. “A car with 30kg of ballast winning in Salzburg with no tow should maybe ring alarm bells to the guys determining the BoP. We’re still frustrated by this as this year it’s so hard with the BoP.”

The Swedish team had its best race weekend of 2017 in Austria with Gianni Morbidelli finishing fifth in his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

“We are much happier,” said Nixon. “We have to thank Altoe family and Adria International Raceway for helping us to get our first test in before this race. We finally had time to learn the car and feel we have taken a huge step forward now able to compete at the front.”

Morbidelli is placed 16th in the drivers’ championship after a terrible start to the season, a full 105 points behind championship leader Stefano Comini. Team-mate Giacomo Altoe finished eighth in the second race and is placed 19th in the points.
