Mat’o Homola satifised with Salzburgring, but feared tyre punctures

DG Sport Compétition’s Mat’o Homola was happy with his weekend in Austria, after scoring pole position for Opel and following up with a podium in Race 1, but rued a set-up error in Race 2, as well as feared a vibration could cause a crash at Turn 9, similar to Rob Huff and Jean-Karl Vernay’s.

“I managed to score more points in this event than all events all together, so I’m satisfied,” said Homola to TouringCarTimes. “But in the second race I’m disappointed, as we changed something on the set-up to have better performance, but it was the wrong step, and after six laps I had no tyres and had a big vibration – I was just waiting for the lap on which my tyres would explode.”

The Slovakian made it to the end in tenth place, picking up an additional point, and praised the Belgian team’s progress through the weekend.

“It was really good. We were making small steps from this event until qualifying, and in Race 1 it was really good. Second place is good, and it’s good to be back near the top and score some good points in the championship.”
