Norbert Michelisz finally confirmed for home race this weekend in Hungary

Norbert Michelisz will make his TCR International Series debut this weekend at his home round at the Hungaroring, after a solution was found to replace the car which he was meant to be racing this weekend, which went to his driver Attila Tassi after the 18-year-old rolled in testing on Friday, destroying his original car, which requires time to repair.

Honda builders JAS Motorsport sent a replacement Civic TCR overnight on Friday to allow Tassi to take part in practice and qualifying, but this car was already being prepared for Michelisz’s debut this weekend for his home round, leaving Michelisz’s M1RA team with a challenge to find a solution for him to take part.

The team have rented a replacement car for “Norbi” this weekend for his second home race of the season, after he last raced in the World Touring Car Championship there last month.

Michelisz has said however he doesn’t play to interfere with his own drivers’ championship, with both Roberto Colciago and Attila Tassi in close contention for this year’s drivers’ title.

“M1RA aims to be successful in the series, so I will not take points away from Attila or Roberto,” said Michelisz to Index.hu. “While making sure of course we put on a good show for the fans.”

“I have two targets for the weekend; to help the team and to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere of my home race.”
