Kevin Giacon and Nicola Baldan take Monza pole positions

Kevin Giacon took pole position for the first race at Monza. The Opel driver will share the front row with SEAT’s Nicola Baldan. The two will occupy the first two places in the second race as well, although Baldan will lead the field in the second heat.

In the first segment of qualifying the Opel driver was two tenths quicker than the SEAT, as the Pit Lane Competizioni driver took an extra lap to heat the tyres. Plamen Kralev finished third ahead of Audi stable-mate Simon Reicher, with championship leader Eric Scalvini in fifth in the MM Motorsport Honda Civic TCR.

Audi’s Max Mugelli will start from sixth ahead of team-mate Massimiliano Gagliano, whose Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is now prepared by Pit Lane Competizioni. Giuseppe Montalbano finished eighth in the BF Racing SEAT, ahead of Audi’s Enrico Bettera, with Gian Maria Gabbiani completing the top ten in his Honda Civic TCR.

In the second session Baldan fought back and took pole position with two solid laps, emerging almost three tenths faster than Giacon. Fellow Pit Lane Competizioni driver Max Mugelli will start from third, ahead of Honda’s Eric Scalvini. Plamen Kralev was fifth in his Audi RS 3 LMS, ahead of Reicher, Gagliano and Bettera. Matteo Bergonzini will start from ninth ahead of Massimo Chini, who closes the top ten.

The first race is scheduled for tomorrow at 16:15.
