No action taken on Pepe Oriola after Salzburgring comments

The race stewards at the Hungaroring have decided to take no action against Pepe Oriola, after he was reported to the stewards for the comments he made about Opel and the Romeo Ferraris team last weekend at the Salzburgring to TouringCarTimes.

The Craft-Bamboo SEAT driver made remarks about the performance of the cars which he then explained were in the heat of the moment, and retracted his statement the next day, apologising for offending Opel, Alfa Romeo builders Romeo Ferraris and the series organisers.

The officials investigated his comments, but consider the matter closed following his retraction.

Oriola’s comments are separate to Craft-Bamboo’s official protest over the legality of the Opel and Alfa Romeos’ turbochargers.

James Nash was also called to the stewards after Free Practice 1 after he set his best time while the yellow flags were out, when Mark Jedloczky’s Alfa Romeo Giulietta went off after losing a wheel at Turn 2; but it was deemed that Nash had sufficiently backed off as he went past the incident.
