Danny Kroes aiming to bounce back on race day in repaired SEAT León

17-year-old Dutch driver Danny Kroes hopes to be able to follow on the coattails of the Audi of Stefano Comini from the back of the grid at Oschersleben, after the Ferry Monster Autosport team were just able to repair his car in time for qualifying after a heavy crash in Free Practice 2.

Kroes brought out the second red flag after hitting the barriers in his León TCR, with the team left with just two hours to repair his car for qualifying.

“The car was really good in free practice,” said Kroes to TouringCarTimes. “I was on a really fast lap when I crashed. I hit the kerb and it felt like something broke and it just went straight, and I couldn’t do anything.”

Kroes went on to qualify in 20th position, 2.2 seconds off the ultimate pace shown by WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli.

“I’m really happy that we could fix the car, but we weren’t able to set-up the car for qualifying so the car wasn’t good, I will start right behind Comini, so I hope to try and follow him and work my way to the front.”
