Honda and Audi given weight break by TCR organisers

The Honda Civic Type-R FK2 TCR and the Audi RS 3 LMS have both had changes to their Balance of Performance measures ahead of this weekend by the TCR organisation, with both cars permitted to take 10kg of ballast out of their cars.

The Honda Civic remains the heaviest car, just 5kg heavier than the Audi, but in turn the Audi is now just 5kg heavier than the Opel Astra TCR.

The JAS Motorsport-built Hondas have contested that they have been unfairly penalised by the BoP in recent events, going from double race winners in the TCR International Series in Hungary, to struggling for points in Germany, while the cars have also begun to struggle in the national series, namely the TCR Germany and Benelux series.

The changes are implemented immediately across all TCR championships, so will apply this weekend in TCR Germany at the Nurburgring, the TCR Russia series at the Smolensk Ring, and the inaugural round of TCR China at the Shanghai International Circuit.
