Craft-Bamboo say Giacomo Altoè’s pace proves BoP is wrong

The team principal of Craft-Bamboo Racing has said that Giacomo Altoè’s podium on his first outing in a Honda Civic in Thailand demonstrates a flaw in TCR’s Balance of Performance.

The team had a less than successful weekend despite qualifying on pole position, with Dan Lloyd the only finisher for the team in Race 1, while James Nash finished seventh in Race 2, making up just two spots from his grid position, after qualifying on the front row for Race 1.

“James did a hell of lap to get us onto the front row for Race 1, but despite the one lap pace of the car being good, we still don’t have the straight line speed to race the other cars,” said team principal Richard Coleman.

Reflecting on Giacomo Altoè’s second place finish in Race 2, after jumping across from the WestCoast Racing Volkswagen team this weekend, Coleman added:

“I think it is clear to see that the BoP is not correct. Altoè is a good up-and-coming driver and a good rookie, but he was trying to compete for points in the VW, and in his first weekend in a Honda he is on the podium. I think it is time for the championship to move towards a circuit specific BoP.”
