Giacomo Altoè hopes to finish the season with M1RA after maiden podium

16-year-old Giacomo Altoè plans to finish the 2017 TCR International Series with M1RA after his debut with the team last weekend in Thailand, where he scored his first podium of the season in the second race.

Altoè launched from fourth on the grid to pass Kantadhee Kusiri’s WestCoast Racing Volkswagen, the car he switched from, and Comtoyou Racing Audi driver Stefano Comini to move into second, and from there he followed the Boutsen Ginion Honda Civic of Aurélien Panis to the finish.

The Italian had made a last minute deal to drive for M1RA in Thailand after leaving WestCoast Racing, and hopes to stay with Norbert Michelisz’s and David Bári’s new team.

“It’s unbelievable, I’m so happy,” said Altoè to TouringCarTimes after the race. “The car was great, I managed the tyres, the brakes and our pace was really good all weekend.

“The feeling with the team is good, and with the car. Everything’s perfect. I think we’ll soon confirm that we’ll do the last two races with M1RA.”
