Adria TCR European Trophy race details revealed

The organisers of this year’s one-off TCR European Trophy have revealed the format for the new-for-2018 event, which takes place at the Adria Raceway circuit in Italy on October 29th.

Drivers who took part in at least one TCR event this season can take part, except any driver currenty placed in the top ten of the TCR International Series standings. Wild card entries can be granted by the promoter.

If fewer than 33 cars are entered, the weekend format will follow that of the TCR International Series, with a two-part qualifying session and two races, each race will be 25 minutes + one lap.

If more than 32 cars are entered, there will be two groups with two separate qualifying sessions and two 20-minute + one lap qualifying races, a 20-minute + one lap repechage race and then a final race of 35 minutes + one lap.

Points will be allocated to entries before the event based on the drivers competition in the various national or regional championships, or the European rounds of the International Series.

If the event is held under the under-33 car “Format A” formula, points will be allocated as per a standard TCR International Series round, with the top five drivers from qualifying scoring points from five to the fastest, to one for fifth.

During the races, the top ten finishers of each will be allocated points based on the standard FIA system of 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1.

In the case of “Format B” being used for more than a 32-car entry, the qualifying races will be allocated 25 to 1 points for the top ten finishers, with those drivers also granted an entry into the final race.

All those that miss the cut can take part in the repechage race, where the top six will be allowed to take part in the final race from the back of the grid.

Pole for the final race will go to the winner of the shorter of the two qualifying races – effectively completing the heat in the fastest time, with the other race winner qualifying second, etc.

The winner of the TCR European Trophy will win a road model of a TCR car, with details to be confirmed.
