Josh Cook receives fifth reprimand and another grid penalty for Plato smash
Triple Eight MG driver Josh Cook led the list of penalties from Silverstone, with the MG driver given a £500 fine, and a three-point endorsement on his racing licence for contact with Team BMR Subaru driver Jason Plato in Race 3.
Cook, who missed Race 1 after serving a one-race ban after his fourth strike in Race 3 at Rockingham three weeks’ ago, is now one more strike away from a two-race ban in the BTCC after his latest transgression. His fifth strike means he’ll start from the back of the grid for Race 1 at Brands Hatch in two weeks’ time.
Further penalties included AmD Tuning’s Ant Whorton-Eales, who was reprimanded for an incident with Handy Toyota driver Rob Austin in Race 1.
Subaru’s Ash Sutton served a grid penalty for his third strike in Race 2, when he made his way past the BMW of Colin Turkington at Copse, while Eurotech Racing’s Brett Smith was given a £500 fine for an incident with BTC Chevrolet driver Chris Smiley and a three-point endorsement, which the team have lodged an appeal against.
Team Dynamics driver Matt Simpson was also given a reprimand and a two-point endorsement for contact with Motorbase’s Mat Jackson in Race 3.
