2018 Supercars calendar revealed with 16 race weekends and a brand new circuit

The 2018 Supercars calendar has been revealed, featuring 16 race weekends and a brand new circuit in the form of the Bend Motorsport Park.

Also new for 2018 is that the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne will be included in the championship, awarding points.

“We have added two new feature events in the Australian Grand Prix and Tailem Bend while improving our continuity and momentum through the season,” said Supercars CEO James Warburton.

“Competing for Championship points for the first time at the Australian Grand Prix has been a long-term goal for our sport and we are honoured to be able to do so on such an international stage.”

Bend Motorsport Park is currently being constructed and will feature a 4.9km layout with 18 turns, hosting round eleven on August 24-26.

“Tailem Bend will be a premier motor racing circuit in Australasia and one we are delighted to be making our debut at in August as part of an initial a four-year deal,” said Warburton.

The season starts in March with the Adelaide 500 and ends in November with the Newcastle 500.
