Rob Huff leads Volkswagen 1-2-3 as Hyundais show good form in Zhejiang testing

Rob Huff led WRT team-mate Jean-Karl Vernay and Volkswagen stable-mate Gianni Morbidelli in today’s two-hour test at Zhejiang, China. Hyundai drivers Gabriele Tarquini and Alain Menu followed closely in a strong first outing for the BRC Racing Team i30 N TCRs.

Lap times were incredibly close for the first three cars, as only 0.041s separated Huff from third-placed Morbidelli. Tarquini was fourth, two-tenths behind his fellow countryman, with Alain Menu a further tenth off the pace.

Daniel Lloyd was sixth in his Craft-Bamboo SEAT, finishing ahead of returnee Roberto Colciago in his M1RA Honda Civic TCR, with Pepe Oriola ahead of his Craft-Bamboo team-mate James Nash. Dusan Borkovic completed the top ten in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR.

Defending champion Stefano Comini finished just outside the top ten in eleventh, his Comtoyou Audi RS 3 LMS 1.2s off the pace. Championship leader Attila Tassi only completed five laps in the session in his M1RA Honda Civic.

The weekend will continue tomorrow with the first free practice session, which starts at 10:00 CST (04:00 CET).
