Denis Dupont to race in the season finale at Dubai

Denis Dupont will be back behind the wheel of the Comtoyou Racing SEAT León TCR for the season finale next month in Dubai, after a problematic first weekend in the series in China.

The 24-year-old joined Comtoyou Racing in a third car, prepared by Zele Racing, and qualified in 11th, just behind the Audi RS 3 of Belgian team-mate Frédéric Vervisch, but his race weekend was cut short after he was knocked into the barrier at the start as a result of a coming together between Hyundai’s Alain Menu and the Boutsen Ginion Honda of Aurélian Panis.

The RACB-backed driver has confirmed his final sponsorship arrangements and he will return as part of a three-car line-up for the season finale next month.

“We can already announce that Denis Dupont will indeed be driving the Comtoyou Racing SEAT in the last round of the TCR International Series in Dubai,” said the team. “He had almost assembled all the necessary budget before his departure from China, and the latest confirmation received from sponsors this week guarantees his participation.”

The Belgian’s next commitment, however, is the TCR Benelux season finale in just under two weeks’ time at TT Circuit Assen, where he races with Comtoyou’s rival in the International Series, Team WRT.
