Tim Slade fastest in Sydney pre-season test day

Tim Slade of Brad Jones Racing topped the final session of the Supercars pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park, beating DJR Team Penske driver Fabian Coulthard by close to half a second.

Slade recorded his lap just before the end of the test day, with the session being extended due to a late red flag that was caused by Garry Rogers Motorsport driver James Golding.

Scott McLaughlin topped the lists for a good portion of the session but the Ford driver crashed at high speed, forcing him to sit out the rest of the session, dropping him to finish sixth.

Nissan Motorsport driver Michael Caruso, who topped the morning session, was third fastest, just 0.0395 seconds behind Coulthard.

Shane van Gisbergen was fastest of the Triple Eight Race Engineering drivers in fourth with Nick Percat making it three Holden ZB Commodores in the top five.

Tekno Autosports driver Jack Le Brocq occupied position seven ahead of reigning champion Jamie Whincup in eighth, both close to seven tenths of a second from the top.

Cameron Waters headed Tickford Racing team-mate Mark Winterbottom in ninth and tenth respectively.
