Stewart Lines to run selected TCR UK programme

Former BTCC racer Stewart Lines has confirmed that he will run at least a partial programme in the new TCR UK Series this season with his Maximum Motorsport team.

Lines stated earlier this year that he was intending to run a car in the season opener at Silverstone on Easter weekend and has now confirmed that he will drive Maximum’s Cupra TCR himself.

The 54-year-old was third quickest during the recent test at the Northamptonshire circuit and becomes the second driver after Carl Swift to be eligible for the DSG Trophy.

“We’ve had the car for some time now as I strongly believe that TCR is the future of touring cars,” he said. “We plan to compete in a number of championships with it and we’re starting 2018 with a programme of TCR UK events.

“Depending on how things go at Silverstone, we could well enter more rounds and have a real go at winning the DSG Trophy.”
