Josh Cook secures second career victory at Thruxton

Josh Cook secured his second victory of the BTCC season with a fine drive through the field to take top spot in race two at Thruxton.

The Power Maxed Racing driver had started from ninth on the grid but after a solid opening lap that saw him move up to sixth, was able to gradually work his way through the pack ahead.

Having climbed into the top three, Cook was able to get ahead of Matt Neal on the run up Woodham Hill on the fifth lap and then repeated the move on Colin Turkington a lap later to get into the lead.

Once out front, Cook was able to control proceedings to take a race win that allows him to move into top spot in the championship standings.

The only possible issue for the Power Maxed Racing man could be a move on Andrew Jordan earlier in the race, which saw him run across the final chicane to complete the move.

Despite the ballast on their cars after race one, Turkington was able to bring his BMW home in second spot ahead of earlier winner Matt Neal in his Honda Civic.

In a race that was largely devoid of action inside the top ten, Cook aside, Sam Tordoff took fourth spot ahead of Andrew Jordan’s BMW, with the top six being completed by the second Vauxhall in the hands of Senna Proctor.

Adam Morgan took seventh and now sits level second in the standings with previous leader Tom Ingram, who was able to come through from the back of the grid to score points in twelfth after his earlier issues.

Dan Cammish was amongst those drivers to encounter issues, being forced to pit to have grass removed from the front of his Honda and ending up down in 26th spot.
