Ricky Collard to continue in season finale at Brands Hatch

Ricky Collard will complete the season with West Surrey Racing after confirmation that he will again partner Colin Turkington for the BTCC finale at Brands Hatch this weekend.

The BMW Motorsport Junior driver had originally been due to race at Rockingham and Knockhill in place of father Rob as he recovers from concussion but was then given a third opportunity to race at Silverstone – where he secured his maiden podium finish.

With Collard Sr still recovering, the youngster will now be charged with aiding team-mate Colin Turkington is his quest to secure the title whilst also helping BMW in the battle for the manufacturers’ and teams’ championships.

“Since coming into Team BMW, my role has been to learn the car, do whatever I can to support Colin in his quest for the drivers’ title and score as many points as possible for the teams’ Championship,” he said. “Nothing changes at Brands Hatch in that respect, although with the results we achieved at Silverstone, I’m placing far more expectation on myself. We’re coming into the weekend leading all three championships and we intend to win them too. That’s going to take a lot of focus and hard work, but that’s something this team knows all about. We’re in a good position.”
