Dan Cammish frustrated by missed chance

For the second time this season, Dan Cammish was left frustrated by a missed opportunity in qualifying at Brands Hatch after the Honda man missed out on securing pole for the BTCC season finale.

Cammish had lost pole for the season opener after missing a weight check in qualifying, eventually going on to take his maiden pole position at Knockhill.

The Jack Sears Trophy title winner was well placed to snare a second pole of the season when he went fastest through the first three sectors of the lap whilst chasing down the fellow Honda of Brett Smith, but was then delayed by Tom Chilton’s Ford Focus at the final corner.

It meant Cammish had to settle for second place on the grid as he seeks to end his season with a trip to the top step of the podium.

“That should be my third pole this year and the fact I’ve missed out on that one isn’t down to me,” he said. “We had a great car and did a good job, and then I just got held up in the final corner. I went from being a good chunk up to losing it all in one corner which was frustrating. I knew we’d struggle to do it again and ultimately we lost out – it happens.

“Brett did a great job and all credit to him for taking pole but it’s all to play for tomorrow. I think our race car will be very strong as it has been all season, so we have an opportunity to score some good points and end the year on a high. Hopefully it’ll be dry and we’ll see what we can do in terms of the results.”
