Nissan to run special livery in Supercars farewell

Nissan Motorsport will run a special livery on all four of its car this weekend when the curtain comes down on the 2018 Supercars Championship season with the Newcastle 500.

All four Altimas being run by the Kelly Racing team will feature elements of pink as part of a tie-up with Breast Cancer Network Australia in what will be the manufacturers final event before withdrawing from the series.

Rick Kelly’s car will run in an entirely pink livery with remaining three cars featuring splashes of the colour, whilst both Kelly and Simona de Silvestro will wear pink race suits that will be auctioned off to raise money for the charity after the race weekend.

“I’ve never raced a pink car before, and I’m really glad that I will get to do that for Breast Cancer Network Australia at Newcastle,” Kelly said. “I’ve seen the statistics, and you read about the breast cancer tragedies that happen every day. As a race team, we thought that we had to do something to help support BCNA, and I’m so glad that we are doing it next weekend across the entire team.

“Our Nissan cars were really fast at Newcastle last year. We almost got on the podium, so our aim is to finish the year on the highest possible note and give the BCNA and our sponsors a result that they will truly be proud of.”

Despite Nissan’s withdrawal, Kelly Racing will continue to run the Altima in 2019.
