Tickford Racing set to run two Ford Mustangs for 23Red Racing

Tickford Racing is set to run two Ford Mustangs for 23Red Racing in the 2019 Supercars championship season of which one is planned to be a wild card entry.

The team announced last week that Tickford Racing will run Will Davison’s Ford Mustang and today 23Red Racing owner Phil Munday announced that he is considering entering their spare car for wild card entries during 2019.

“I am building a second Mustang, converting my other car, so if the right opportunity arises, it’s definitely a possibility,” said Munday to Supercars.com.

Munday stated that he is keen for a young driver to be behind the wheel of the wild card entry.

“A young guy would be good, someone out of Super2 who shows a bit of potential. But we’ll just play it by ear and see what happens, there’s no definite plans,” said Munday.

Tickford Racing will run a total of five Ford Mustangs including 23Red Racing’s two cars. Chaz Mostert and Cameron Waters are confirmed for Tickford Racing while the third seat is still open.

DJR Team Penske’s two entries will make for a total of seven Ford Mustangs on the grid for 2019.
