TCR Italy championship calendar revealed

Organisers of the TCR Italy championship have revealed the calendar for the 2019 season, comprising of events solely on Italian soil.

As was the case this season, the calendar features seven events – each of which will feature a pair of sprint races.

In a change from this season, all seven rounds will take place at Italian circuits, meaning there is no place on the calendar for Paul Ricard, which hosted the second round of the 2018 campaign.

Instead, Monza is given a second date and will now host both the season opener in April and the season finale in October. There are also two meetings at Imola, as well as races at Misano, Mugello and Vallelunga – as was the case this year.

Although not yet finalised, series promoter ACI Sport is evaluating a change to the system used to determine the top-eight reverse grid for race two, which would take into account the results of qualifying as opposed to the results of race one.

Plans are also afoot to halve the success ballast that is currently given to the three best scorers after each event from the current levels of 30kg, 20kg and 10kg.
