Kelly Racing confirm Michael Caruso’s departure

Kelly Racing has confirmed that Michael Caruso will leave the team ahead of the 2019 Supercars Championship season.

Caruso has driven for the team for six seasons, claiming two victories and finished 18th overall in the drivers’ championship last year.

Kelly Racing lost the official Nissan support after the 2018 season but will continue running four Nissan Altimas and has so far confirmed two of its four seats for 2019. Rick Kelly and Simona De Silvestro will continue for the team while the remaining two are yet to be named.

There is no information yet on Caruso’s plans for 2019 but information suggests that he will secure an endurance seat for one of the Supercars teams.

The team issued a brief statement today on the exit of Caruso:

“Kelly Racing confirms that Michael Caruso will not be returning with the Team in 2019. Michael joined the Team ahead of the 2013 season alongside the Nissan Supercar program. Since 2013, Michael has been an outstanding ambassador of the Team and his on-track success delivered the Teams second victory during the Nissan Motorsport era with a win at Darwin in 2016.

Kelly Racing thanks Michael for his contribution over the last six seasons and we wish him the best with his future endeavours.”
