New cost-saving control parts to debut at Phillip Island test
The Supercars organisation will introduce a number of new control parts during the official pre-season test at Phillip Island on February 14th. The main purpose of the parts is to reduce costs for the teams.
A new Xtrac transaxle gearbox will be used with a more robust construction in order to improve reliability.
A revamped Motec ECU will be mandatory from the season start, albeit not compulsory to use during pre-season testing.
Another change for 2019 is the decision to ban twin spring dampers and instead the less complex linear spring dampers will only be allowed. The twin spring dampers improved handling but increased costs.
