Cameron Waters heads three Ford Mustangs in Phillip Island test

Cameron Waters headed three Ford Mustangs in the first official Supercars Championship test of 2019. The Tickford Racing driver beat DJR Team Penske driver Fabian Coulthard by 0.0118 seconds.

Chaz Mostert, sharing car with co-driver James Moffat during the day, was third fastest, two tenths from Waters’ time.

David Reynolds, with Erebus Motorsport co-driver Luke Youlden, was best of the Holden drivers in fifth position, 0.2267 seconds from the top spot.

Will Davison made it four Mustangs in the top five, claiming the fifth fastest time with 1:31.0066 and was 0.2801 from Tickford Racing team-mate Waters in P1.

Scott Pye claimed position six in his Walkinshaw Andretti United-prepared Holden Commodore, three tenths from the top.

Erebus Motorsport had both drivers in the top seven, with Anton De Pasquale in seventh ahead of the reigning champion and DJR Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin in eighth. McLauhglin was 0.3391 seconds from manufacturer colleague Waters.

Rick Kelly was fastest of the Nissan drivers in 13th position, seven tenths from the top time.

Triple Eight Race Engineering drivers Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup were further down the order in 14th and 19th position respectively.

Mark Winterbottom, who makes his Holden debut this year, was 16th fastest for Charlie Schwerkolt Racing, sharing car with co-driver Steven Richards during the day.

The 2019 Supercars Championship season starts in Adelaide on March 2-3rd.
