F1-inspired livery for Tim Blanchard’s wild card outing

Tim Blanchard will run with an F1-inspired livery when he makes his return to the Supercars grid as a wild card in Perth next weekend.

Blanchard will compete in the night races at Barbagallo with Brad Jones Racing having elected to step down from full-time competition at the end of the 2018 season.

The 31-year-old will race with backing from Malaysian oil giant Petronas, with his Holden Commodore carrying a livery seen in F1 with Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas – the latter running the same #77 that Blanchard will have on his car for his return.

“Petronas obviously have a great passion for motorsport as shown by their involvement with Mercedes in Formula 1,” Blanchard said. “I am thrilled to be partnering with them for their first foray into the Virgin Australia Supercar Championship.

“We head across to the event knowing the track has recently been resurfaced, so we’re expecting to see a few differences in some of the kerbs and old bumps that used to be there.

“It’ll change the way we set up the cars heading into the weekend, and hopefully we’ll be getting around there a little faster than what we used to.

“I’m excited to go racing again.”
