Free-to-air TV deal for TCR New Zealand

The organisers of the new TCR New Zealand series have confirmed a free-to-air TV deal for its inaugural season.

Alongside live coverage on Sky Sports alongside other categories racing on the Speed Works Events package, the newest addition to the TCR scene will be part of a new two-hour NZ motorsport programme on Prime that will air on a week night following each event.

Race highlights, interviews and features will be part of the show, which is due to launch in mid-December ahead of the new racing season.

“It’s another element in cementing Sky and Prime as the home of motorsport in New Zealand,” Speed Works Events promoter Geoff Short said. “The live Sky broadcast is a great way to get their motorsport fix as the action happens, but adding a high quality free-to-air element to the overall package will help NZ motorsport reach a wider audience.

“There’s lots happening in New Zealand Motorsport right now and it’s all good news for the sport and the fans.

“We have a strong presence internationally as a motorsport nation and we are all working hard to build its popularity here in New Zealand as well.”

TCR New Zealand kicks off in January at the Highlands circuit.
