Scott McLaughlin: “We’ve been knocked around a fair bit this year”

Scott McLaughlin secured his second straight Supercars Championship title at Sandown today after finishing ninth with co-driver Alexandre Premat.

“I’m just so proud of this team. We’ve been knocked around a fair bit this year, and they’ve just kept coming back,” said McLaughlin.

The DJR Team Penske driver was stripped of his pole position and started from the back of the grid after receiving a controversial penalty, as the qualifying engine of his Ford Mustang at Bathurst was found to be illegal.

“We started last today, and just ground it out to get a Top 10 result. Thanks to Alex for his work this year, I love Frenchie,” said McLaughlin.

Next up is the Newcastle season finale and McLaughlin is focussed on securing the teams’ title.

“I’m stoked to have been able to get it done, but there’s still work to be done for our team and sponsors in Newcastle. We want to win the Teams’ Championship, and will be pushing hard to get that done,” said McLaughlin.
