Tickford Racing to retain Lee Holdsworth for 2020

Lee Holdsworth will stay at Tickford Racing for a second season in 2020 as the Ford team has announced the experienced driver is going to remain at the squad next year.

As one of the seats in the fold through the current Supercars silly season, Holdsworth has been able to retain his spot with Tickford as a part of a multi-season deal, coinciding with the arrival of new sponsor Truck Assist.

Despite a slow start to the year, Holdsworth’s 2019 has been fruitful with Tickford, taking a drought-breaking podium at the Sandown 500 in his first year with the team.

Holdsworth says that the year has rejuvenated his career after a trying few years at Team 18.

“We’ve had a great second half of 2019 and I really feel confident in the team and the car, so I’m very happy to be staying put,” Holdsworth said.

“This year’s given my career a shot in the arm. I always felt I have many more good years in me, and this year I’ve been able to prove it.

“I’m really grateful to Tickford that I’ll be able to continue fighting for top fives and podiums with them in 2020.”

Tickford boss Tim Edwards said that Holdsworth’s experience has helped moved the team forwards with the relatively young Chaz Mostert and Cam Waters racing alongside him.

“Lee’s been great for us in and out of the car,”Edwards said.

“He gelled with the team straight away at the start of this year, provides great insight in team meetings, and has been great with fans and sponsors.

“Once he acclimatised to our car the results started coming, and they came in droves.

“We’re more than happy to continue with Lee, and look forward to seeing him hoist more trophies in 2020.”

It is likely that Mostert will depart Tickford at the end of this year with Jack Le Brocq being tipped as his replacement. Le Brocq currently races for Tekno Autosports with Truck Assist as a major sponsor.
