Thomas Randle to race in Super2 opener before chemotherapy

Super2 star Thomas Randle has confirmed that he will race in the opening round of the development series at the Adelaide 500 despite an upcoming round of chemotherapy.

The former Tickford Racing driver underwent surgery last month for testicular cancer, revealing today that he has not been given the all clear and will have to go through chemotherapy

Moving from Tickford to MW Motorsport for the 2020 season after taking a podium result with Lee Holdsworth at last year’s Sandown 500, Randle says he’s keen to get in the car and race at the season opener.

“Unfortunately my diagnosis is Stage 2 Testicular Cancer which means I have metastasis,” Randle posted on Facebook.

“This means I will have to undergo chemotherapy to get rid of the bastard.

“The good news is that I’ve been given the green light by the specialist to race at the first round of the Super2 Series at Adelaide in a fortnight’s time!

“My treatment will begin shortly afterwards, but I just can’t wait to be on that grid!!

“Seat fit has been completed today.

“Also thank you to everyone for all your lovely messages/comments of support. I have read every one of them so thank you for that!”

The 23-year-old is pushing to make a return at the second round of the season at Tasmania’s Symmons Plains at the start of April, on the cusp of the end of the rest period for his chemotherapy.
