Lando Norris gets Supercars Eseries call up with Walkinshaw Andretti United

Formula 1 talent Lando Norris will become take the helm of a Walkinshaw Andretti United wildcard Holden Commodore in this week’s Supercars Eseries race after the McLaren driver starred in the recent Indycar iRacing Challenge.

The British-Belgian driver will start his Supercars Eseries race at Spa-Francorchamps, home of the Belgian Grand Prix, becoming the second driver from Formula 1 to take part in this Eseries season, following Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen who competed in round two.

McLaren team principal and United Autosports owner Zak Brown is the key link between the Formula 1 paddock and the Supercars world, having taken up part ownership of Walkinshaw with Michael Andretti in 2018.

Driving the #04 for WAU in the round, Norris will be looking to prove himself amongst Supercars’ best offerings, having already beaten Scott McLaughlin in Indycar’s online series and being team-mates with Shane van Gisbergen and Verstappen at Team Redline.

“I’m super excited to announce I’ll be joining the Supercars grid in Spa this week,” Norris said.

“There’s a lot of fast drivers in it, it’s going to be very tough, very competitive, but I’ve watched pretty much all of the races so far in the championship and it looks a lot of fun.

“I’m very excited, I hope you are too, and I hope to see you all on Wednesday!”

Having finished his rookie Formula 1 season in 11th place last year, Norris is regarded as one of the hot young talents motorsport and will be joined by fellow wildcard Jack Doohan on the grid, son of five-time 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan.

Round five of the Supercars Eseries kicks off with qualifying and a Top Ten Shootout at 1800 local time on Wednesday as the race coverage begins at 1900.
