Shane van Gisbergen in self-isolation ahead of Supercars restart

Shane van Gisbergen has traveled from New Zealand to Australia in preparation for the Supercars Championship restart and has put himself in a mandatory two-week self-isolation at his Gold Coast home.

“It was pretty full on and intense, like luckily I had been quarantining myself anyway in New Zealand so it made it easy from that side,” said van Gisbergen to supercars.com.

“And then just coming over and taking the right steps and keeping sanitised and keeping the distance and wearing a mask, all that kind of stuff.”

Triple Eight Race Engineering issued a statement regarding van Gisbergen’s travel to Australia in preparation for the season restart that will take place on June 27-28 at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“Shane will serve a mandatory 14-day quarantine period at his personal residence after returning to Australia from New Zealand under strict conditions directed by the Queensland Government and State Health Department.

“Shane’s home-based self-isolation will allow him to continue competing in the Supercars All Stars Eseries, as well as maintain his fitness routine in preparation for the commencement of the Supercars season on June 27 at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“We thank Queensland’s Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young, the Queensland Health Department and Supercars for their assistance in the matter.”
