Proteam signs Riccardo Romagnoli for 2020

Proteam has announced the signing of Riccardo Romagnoli for the 2020 TCR Italy season.

Romagnoli, who took part in two rounds of the World Touring Car Championship back in 2006, will be at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTI fitted with a DSG gearbox as he returns to the team he raced with more than 20 years ago.

“I’m especially happy to welcome Romagnoli back in the team after twenty-two years,” team principal Valmiro Presenzini said. “He had been one of my first drivers when I launched the team, back in 1988. We have all the motivations we need to be competitive.”

Romagnoli himself said he was pleased with his initial impressions of the car.

“We have completed four sessions and set good lap times,” he said. “I knew the team and found myself at ease with the car. It’s fun to drive, a real Touring Car! I really hope to be able to fight for the top positions.”
