Dan Cammish happy with second row after “wild” session
Dan Cammish said he was pleased to qualify on the second row of the grid for the BTCC season finale after a wild qualifying session at Brands Hatch.
Cammish was one of the early pace setters in the session in his Team Dynamics-run Honda before being shuffled back to fourth on the times as others improved.
A number of off-track moments at Clearways hampered Cammish’s bid to try and secure pole – and also take the Wingfoot Award, which he ultimately missed out on by a point.
However, the Honda driver remained happy with his result from the session as he looks to now take the fight to Colin Turkington and Ash Sutton on race day in the battle for the title.
“Being P4 isn’t a bad place to start on this grid,” he said. “When you see the times, you kick yourself for not getting pole but that is where we were. We had a sensible run on the first set of tyres and got the most from it and then had a few skirmishes when the tyres didn’t work as well on our later runs and couldn’t improve.
“There is everything to play for tomorrow, and we are in the right place. The car was quite wild today with some snap oversteer that we thought we had sorted, and that is something to keep an eye on tomorrow. I have nothing to lose and no-one will remember who finishes in second or third. I have to try and take points out of Colin and Ash and see what happens but a win would be nice.”
