Retro black-and-gold look for David Reynolds at Sandown

Kelly Grove Racing’s newest recruit David Reynolds will campaign the weekend’s upcoming Sandown SuperSprint with a fresh retro look on his Ford Mustang, the #26 car donning black and gold for a throwback look.

With major backing from oil manufacturer Penrite, the company is no stranger to putting together special one-off liveries, having done so for the Sandown round since 2016 and, despite no longer being an endurance race, has decided to carry on that theme to this year’s race at the iconic track.

Based just around the corner in the suburb of Dandenong, Penrite felt they had to make the car stand out for the round and for Reynolds, it’s a great opportunity to stand out even more than what he already does in the paddock.

“With Penrite Oil being the naming rights partner of this weekend’s Sandown event, it was only right that Penrite Racing do something special to celebrate and the team have put together an awesome-looking black and gold-themed 1960s-style retro livery which looks amazing, and fast.”

“We’ve gone with the full Ford GT stripes, the numbers on the doors, I have to say I’ve had a few retro liveries over the years but this one is by far the coolest. Hopefully the fans love it as much as we do!”

“This weekend I’ll also make my 350th Supercars race start which is pretty cool, it’s great to be able to share the milestone with Penrite at their home event and have some of my Melbourne-based friends and family cheer us on.”

Reynolds currently sits eighth in the championship standings after ninth and 11th place finishes in the opening round of the season.
