Pedro Aizza set for full season entry with Scuderia CJ

Teenage racer Pedro Aizza is set to contest a full season in the TCR South America series after agreeing a deal to join Scuderia CJ.

Aizza contested two rounds of the inaugural season for the series, taking fifth spot alongside Ayrton Chorne in a Squadra Martino-run Honda in the endurance event at Curitiba before a seventh place finish in Buenos Aires at the wheel of Scuderia CJ’s Hyundai Elantra N TCR.

“We are very happy to close 2021 with a driver confirmed for TCR,” team chief Carlos Chiarelli said.

“Pedro is a young talent who will come in and strengthen our team, and we are sure he will do a great job.”

Aizza himself was pleased to confirm the move to TCR for the new season.

“I really enjoy racing and I’m going to make the most of this opportunity I’ve been given,” he said. “I don’t have much experience in cars, although I had an excellent year in 2021 in touring cars, where I was champion in the Sprint Race category.

“TCR is an extremely professional category, where I know there will be great challenges. I did two races in the 2021 season, and I really like the Elantra. I know that the first races won’t see me fighting for wins because I’m a driver who has a lot to learn, but I want to challenge for podiums and victories as the season goes on.”
