18 cars entered for Velocitta season opener

18 cars have been entered for the first TCR South America round of 2022 at Velocitta in Brazil this weekend.

“We are very happy to kick off the second season of TCR South America. A year where there will be more teams, new brands and great prizes at stake for all of our champions,” said Federico Punteri, president of TCR South America.

“After a first year where, despite all the difficulties, we finished strongly, I am sure that 2022 will be the season when the concept of TCR will take hold in this region.”

Champion team W2 Pro GP has switched from Honda to Cupra for this year, fielding two brand new León Competicións for Raphael Reis and Antonio Junqueira.

PMO Motorsport is going to field a total of four cars, with Fabricio Pezzini and Jan-Manuel Sapag racing a pair of Lynk & Cos while Franco Farina and Pablo Otero will drive a pair of Peugeot 308TCRs.

Cobra Racing will put three Audis on the grid for drivers Bia Figueiredo, Adalberto Baptista and Guilherme Reischl.

CJ Motorsport has entered two Hyundai Elantra N TCRs for Pedro Aizza while his team-mate is still to be confirmed, with track action of the season opener less than 24 hours away.

Squadra Martino will once again enter two Hondas for Juan Ángel Rosso and Fabio Casagrande while PropCar Racing will enter two Alfa Romeos, one for Fernando Croce while his team-mate is yet to be named.

The season opener will start with testing and qualifying on Saturday, followed by two races on Sunday.
