Livery revealed for privateer Bathurst effort

The Matt Chahda Motorsport team has revealed the Caltex livery that it will carry when it joins the Supercars field for the Bathurst 1000 this weekend.

The team will run a Holden Commodore as one of three wildcards in the race under the Caltex Young Stars banner, with team owner Matt Chahda at the wheel alongside fellow Super2 racer Jaylyn Robotham.

The car being used by the team is the same one used by Jayden Ojeda when he raced as a wildcard with Walkinshaw Andretti United earlier in the year.

“To have the support of a global brand like Caltex is a huge boost for our first Bathurst 1000 campaign,” Chahda said. “The car looks fantastic and knowing that we’re carrying the same branding as some of the most famous names of this race is exciting.

“It’s an honour for us to represent Caltex, giving us the best possible opportunity to take on the challenge ahead of us this week.

“Our preparation has been fantastic, and Jaylyn and I are as ready to go as we can be. We can’t wait to get on track.”

With the other two wildcards being run by Triple Eight and Erebus, MCM is the only true privateer in the race this season and will enter as the true underdog, albeit with plenty of experience behind the scenes in the shape of team manager Wally Storey – who has previously worked with the likes of the Holden Racing Team and Brad Jones Racing.

“The team doesn’t look like a half-stitched effort,” Chahda added. “The team looks really good, which makes you a lot more proud to be doing it.

“The privateer thing is cool, it’s cool to be a privateer and still be fully respected by the teams. If we came in the way we were a few years ago, it wouldn’t have been half the team it is now.

“It’s an ideal circumstance to be in.”
