Dan Cammish delighted with home success
Dan Cammish admitted he was delighted to have scored a first BTCC win on home soil as part of NAPA Racing’s stunning weekend at Croft.
Cammish produced a storming lap in qualifying to put his Ford Focus on pole as the Motorbase-run team scored a 1-2-3 finish, and then headed team-mates Ash Sutton and Dan Rowbottom in a podium lock-out in race one.
Sutton would then win race two as Cammish followed him home in second, with a fourth place in race three leaving the former Porsche champion as the highest-scoring driver from the weekend.
As a result, Cammish has closed to within five points of Jake Hill in the points and is only twelve away from third-placed Colin Turkington.
“I’ve had an absolutely fantastic weekend and I think I’m the highest point scorer,” he said. “I’ve clawed back up towards the BMWs and put myself in a really good position.
“To win at my home event for the first time means a lot to me, coming to Yorkshire and picking up a win from pole.
“Saturday was great, with a one-two-three in qualifying and backed up by a one-two-three in races one and two. I don’t think that’s ever been done before, so it’s been a fantastic atmosphere and we’re going to enjoy it.
“The car has been fantastic and though there have been times where it has felt even better to drive, we’ve had the advantage and we’ve done the best job this weekend.”
