Mikey Doble pleased to secure Jack Sears lead

BTCC rookie Mikey Doble said he was delighted to his the front in the Jack Sears Trophy as the second half of the 2023 season kicked off at Croft.

The Power Maxed Racing driver sat second to Team HARD’s Dexter Patterson going into the weekend, with confidence high of a strong showing at one of his favoured circuits.

Qualifying 15th on the grid for race one, Doble managed to make up a place to take 14th in race one and came close to another points finish with 16th in race two.

A fine run to twelfth in race three meant a double points score from the weekend the Jack Sears Trophy win – with Doble having now moved ahead of Patterson into the points lead.

“I came into Croft with high hopes as the circuit is one of my favourites on the calendar,” he said.

“In race one we elected to run the soft tyre and whilst we didn’t make as much progress as we would have liked, we still came home one position better. In race two we managed to bring the car home with no damage and just outside the points in P16.

“Being on the hard tyre for race three didn’t give us too much hope but it arguably was our best performance of the weekend as we managed to hold off our main Jack Sears Trophy rivals.

“Overall, to come away leading the Jack Sears Trophy and with more silverware, I couldn’t be prouder of the effort that everyone at CarStore Power Maxed Racing is putting in at the moment.

“I can’t wait to take on the challenge of Knockhill in two weeks’ time and to hopefully extend the margin in the Jack Sears Trophy.”
